Political campaigns involve disagreements. Candidates should absolutely debate votes, priorities, and policy.

But voters deserve an honest debate.

Recent campaign materials from Mike’s Republican Opponent have repeatedly misrepresented Mike Steele’s legislative record. The actual legislation tells a very different story than the headlines appearing in Mike’s Republican opponent’s mailers.

Mike Steele stands behind his votes and is willing to explain them.

Mike’s Republican Opponent is either failing to understand the legislation he is attacking or deliberately presenting voters with a distorted account of it.

Neither should be acceptable from someone asking to represent you in Olympia.

Washington courts have recognized that ultimately it is voters—not government—that must judge the truthfulness and credibility of political speech.

So don’t simply take our word for it.

Read the bills. Examine the record. Compare it to what you’ve been told. Then decide for yourself whose character and judgment you trust.
